Hello again dear reader I would like to put readers but that may be a bit optimistic judging by my statistics. Why oh why did I use such an infernal soul breaking thing that has enslaved me? Sit closer dear dreader and lets continue the story.
I have already posted in the past about the joy of blogging so this must hence be named the joy of blogging part two, catchy title eh.
The story may be familiar to you and if so feel free to share and delight me with your own words of wisdom, be they waspish or wonderful. My foray into this world of blogging was born like many others by the blog service provided by google or as I shall now call it the big G, why did I commence this path? I suppose like many others I wish to write and more importantly perhaps be read. Sadly I am lacking in the time department meaning the world will have to wait for my well received novel until such time it is written.
Blogging seemed to fill a crack in my soul, not quite the same , but nether the less it provided some relief from my writers craving, like an electronic nicotine patch. I filled a few posts with words and published them to the electronic ether and like those that had gone before me became shocked at the general apathy in the world of the web at my creations. I it has to be said felt somewhat foolish upon realising that the blogging scene is what one calls a bit full.
So time being limited I reached a crossroads, which path should I take? Was blogging but a dead end of blackness and disillusion? Should I forge ahead using what can only politely be described as the limited freebie service from the big G? Or go that one step further self hosting a blog with the bells, whistles, plug ins and seemingly endless widgets of word press?
My friends who had indulged themselves in the bald ones rantings spoke of pleasure as their eyes caressed the flickering screens, but truly can friends be un bias? Doubt entered myself like a slowly spreading virus. Then I received help from an unexpected source, a kindly gentleman from a country a great distance from my own whose blog not only inspired me but fed the embers of possibilities further.
He took the time in what surely is a busy life (don’t call me Shirley) to look at my foundling efforts and spoke kindly of content whilst offering guidance upon the design.
Frustrated even more by the big G the decision was made thus and I leapt into the freedom of self hosting and wonderful widget wordpress and after around eight hours of technical support from my patient page providers I finally feasted my eyes upon the bare carcass of my new blog.
So stuff the the stats! I shall I shall continue on this journey and hope others may join me along the way.
Thanks again to my inspiration and his splendid blog, if you enjoy my humble efforts offer him a humble thank you under your breath if you don’t enjoy these finely crafted words then its all his fault!
Getting people to visit your blog is a hard slog. Joining groups like Blogplicity helps as does going around and commenting on other peoples’ blogs. Try searching WordPress for similar blogs to your own and leave a comment. Good luck!!

it has so many options etc so is very good, down side has so many options and keep be a bit trivky to sort it out for a newbie.
Charles, hello! Listen, don’t get caught up in your stats, it will make you crazy! Turn that energy into focusing on your writing content. You have a good thing started here and if you continue, the followers and visits will follow.
When I first started, I would check to see how many followers I had, how many visits, who was visiting and from where, only to be discouraged. Then with me, I hit a lull where I got to about 50 followers and stayed there for about 3 wks. Use your stats to learn by, find out what type of articles are getting the most visits, study that content and provide more of it.
Be prepared for when you do get a following, then you will find yourself worried about being able to provide the same amount at the same quality of posts that you have in the past. There will be times your brain goes dead and you are asking “omg, what am I going to write about today?” If blogging is truly what you love, it will come. Let your fingers do the typing:)

I have tried to ignore those pesky stats bit tricky at times! go will power.
It’s a tough market out there but I guess it depends what you want to get out of it. The best bloggers are the ones that do it for the love of it, you seem to have a passion burning in there for it and it’s very enjoyable to read so don’t worry about what else is going on – the rest will come.
I am really enjoying blogging now i have landed, guess like most of us want to be read but having fun the most important thing.
Hey Charles, if you are serious about Blogging and getting read, then take my advice, been at this scene for 16 years now. First, what Mary said is good advice. Second is Successful blogging is 60-70% of your time marketing it, the rest is formating and writing. I can always tell if someone has what it takes as they go the extra mile to bring readers to their site. Those are the ones that are winners. They develop relationships and get their ads clicked on etc… anyway, you have a great looking site here, I will enjoy watching you grow!
Thank you kindly please feel free to offer any help or advice when you like;) its a rather full thing is blogging!
I never saw your old site, but this one is very pretty! I’m a blogger gal, but I can see why some prefer Word Press.
